RULES
1.
The competition will be held for an eight-week period beginning
Thursday, February 1st, 2006 and ending Thursday, March 29th, 2007.
Coed teams of five people with at least one male or one female may
participate.
2.
Weekly weigh-ins will be held every Thursday between 11:30 and 1:00
at the Weight Loss Office located at 850 Clark Drive (a private
room will be used). Weigh-ins will be kept confidential and recorded
by Hackettstown Regional Medical Center staff. Special arrangements
for weigh-ins may be made by contacting Ellen Cady at 973-347-3088.
3.
Weight loss goals for each person on your team during the duration
of the competition cannot be less than five (5) pounds or more than
sixteen (16) pounds. Any weight greater than the original goal set
at the first weigh-in will not be counted toward the team’s collective
goal.
4. If you miss any weight check, your weight from the previous week
will be recorded for the current week. Special arrangements for
weigh-ins scheduled by program officials will include a mid-point
mandatory weigh-in. If you miss the final weight check, you will
be recorded as having lost zero pounds for the entire competition
unless a special arrangement has been made to log in your final
weight. The only alternative final weigh-In dates are Monday, Tuesday
or Wednesday, April 3, 4 or 5. No faxed weights accepted. We want
to see you!
5.
Anyone who drops out of the competition will not have his or her
goal subtracted from the team’s goal. Exceptions are terminations
for medical reasons or changes in job status that warrants withdrawal
from the competition.
6.
Individual weights, goals, and weight loss progress will be kept
confidential, unless you choose to tell others yourself.
7.
Each participant will contribute $20 to the prize fund at the beginning
of the program. To be eligible for weekly door prizes, you must
attend that week’s weigh-in. The grand prize fund, minus expenses,
will be awarded to the winning team. The winning team will be the
group that loses the greatest percentage of its original collective
goal at the end of the eight weeks. In the event of a tie, team
attendance at the weigh-ins will determine the winning team. In
the event of a continual tie, the prize money will be split between
the winning teams. Last year’s winning team was "SOS - Shrink Our
Stomachs" from The Rockefeller Group. They lost 60 pounds and were
100% of their goal. "Losers Can Be Winners" from Seiko Corp. won
for best attendance. Total weight loss for the 14 teams that entered
the competition was over 500 pounds.
8.
Waist measurements will again be taken on Week One, Four and at
the final Weigh-In for those who are interested. While weight loss
is the goal of the program, physique improvement is also a measurable
goal. Hackettstown Regional Medical Center professional staff including
the Hospital’s dietician, exercise physiologist and nutritionist
will all be available to participants in the program.
9.
Sportcraft, Ltd. will be providing everyone with a Stop watch at
the beginning of the competition, and a Pedometer at the end of
the competition. During the competition, Sportcraft will be donating
3 Powerswing treadmills as door prizes. Team members who are interested
in owning a treadmill can place their name in a special basket and
one winner will be pulled on, February 9, March 2 and at the final
weigh-in on April 6. It will be the winners responsibility to make
arrangements with Sportcraft to pick up the treadmill.
