12th ANNUAL ITCA TRIATHLON

 

OFFICIAL RACE RULES: Please carefully review the ITCA Triathlon rules that follow. They have been established to provide for your safety and enjoyment. These rules may be superseded by your acceptance letter and pre-event instructions.

Mountain Bike (No Road or Hybrid Bikes Allowed)
  • An ANSI or Snell approved bike helmet is mandatory during the entire segment
  • Bike frame #’s must be attached to the top tube and be clearly visible at all times
  • Bike repair and maintenance is the responsibility of the individual contestants
  • If bike repair is not feasible, contestants may run or walk bike to the transition area
  • Bikes must be in working order: brakes, gearing and tires.
Canoe:
  • ALL canoes, personal flotation devices and paddles will be provided by the ITCA Triathlon. No private canoe equipment permitted.
  • All canoeists must wear a fully fastened “Personal Flotation Device” (PDF) at all times or be disqualified
  • Boat or rubber soled shoes must be worn. No aqua shoes or bare feet are allowed. Sneakers are okay.
  • In case of high winds, rough waters or unsafe conditions, the canoe event will become a multi-skill event.
Run:
  • Runners may not be mechanically assisted in any way
  • iPODS ARE STRICTLY PROHIBITED!!! You will be disqualified if you are seen with any headphone device
General Triathlon Rules:
  • Folding or cutting race numbers is prohibited.Wear numbers on front.
  • Contestants may NOT wear headphones or any other device that impairs normal hearing
  • Event or medical officials may remove contestants from competition for reasons of physical safety, violation of rules, or unsportsmanlike conduct.
  • No supporters, family members or friends may assist a contestant in any way, including pacing
  • Pickup of bikes will occur at Transition Area
  • Athletes may not ride their bikes back to the International Trade Center
  • Event organizers reserve the right to alter the course for safety reasons.
